• A doublet is a cushioned defensive garment that may be worn alone or below mail or plate armour. The Arming Doublet is comprised of high-quality cotton fibres and moves freely. Raw cotton pads and cotton linen are utilised for added comfort, breathability, and durability.
• While the arming doublet was primarily used for military purposes, it was also sometimes worn by civilians for protection during travel or work. Today, arming doublet are popular among reenactors and historical enthusiasts.
• Suitable Cotton Arming If you want to wear steel plate or chainmail armour, arming doublet shirts are very much a necessity. It is cosy to wear when worn by itself. Does not overheat during intense training and competitions.
• This armour was worn as a full suit of armour as well as beneath mail and plate to cushion the body and prevent chafing. It was quite insulating and hence uncomfortable, but the soldier needed the protection.
